The Absinthe Hearts were formed in the musically thriving(some might say overrated) city of Melbourne and fueled by their frustration at the over abundance of self-referential shoe-gazing "artists" intoxicated by the stink of their own egos. Inspired by the days when Rock was a spectacle and people shook their hips and moved their feet when the beat was strong, With shared influences such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, The Seeds, 13th Floor Elevators, The MC5, The Stooges, T-Rex, Ziggy Stardust and many more besides, The Absinthe Hearts are like a party on stage. Featuring not one, but two powerful female voices over dueling guitar riffs and a booty quaking rhythm section, convenient descriptive adjectives such as Glam and Psychedelic are appropriate but less than adequate in capturing the synthesis of their distinctive sound.
