DT3 (Dtown-3) played at Darwin

DT3 (Dtown-3)

DTown-3 aka DT3 is a rap trio from Darwin, Northern Territory. The group have taken the NT by storm with their new school style of hip-hop and are making waves nationally.

Their new single “U da one” is currently number #1 on the JJJ Unearthed Hip Hop chart and is number 15 overall. This track is a departure from the niche “Aussie Hop Hop” sound toward a more commercial and distinctly mainstream flavour.

DT3 formed in September 2009 at a Darwin Community Arts workshop that encouraged youth to get off the streets and do something more productive with hip hop and rap. Learning studio recording techniques, DT3 took their new skills and set-up their own recording studio – producing their first release 10 track mixtape “Break & Enter”.

Dt3 have been conducting health awareness workshops for youth with Menzies School of Health in Darwin and Borroloola.

In November 2010 Dt3 wrote and performed a track called “We Need To Make a Change” in support of a suicide rally which was held outside Parliament House in the N.T and broadcasted on ABC National Radio.

Dt3 held a concert in Katherine December 2010 supporting world AIDS day. The group performed in Katherine, Barunga and Binjari using their music as an attraction for youth so they could raise awareness with the help of Wurli Wurli Health Foundation in Katherine.

The group will also be opening for legendary rapper 2pac's group the Outlawz at Discovery on the 17th of February
