HESTON DROP played at Adelaide

HESTON DROP

Passion, Fight and Serious Rock.

Heston Drop was formed by its original members in Adelaide's eastern suburbs in the summer of 2008. From the moment they decided to join musical forces, their vision was clear and shared: to blend their love of classic rock sounds and attitude with sharp, desirable pop hooks.

Rehearsals started in earnest as the trio hired gloomy looking spaces every week to create colorful musical havoc, playing songs by bands they were inspired by, including 'The Rolling Stones', 'Foo Fighters', 'Kings of Leon' and 'John Mayer'.

Realizing that the stage was where they belonged, original music started flowing from the bands core. As you could imagine initial attempts did not meet their expectations, but as they progressed the fusion of their individual styles started to mold into the Heston Drop sound.

After six months and a growing catalogue of original material, the band was finally christened 'HESTON DROP', this name being an obscure and creative reference to Jimmy Page's birthplace. The trio now had another hurdle to jump; they sought a drummer to complete their band. At this time, Frank Vardaro undertook the role of manager, with determination and a passion for music that he had cultivated over the many years of managing rock and roll outfits.

Heston Drop was now complete after finding their drummer Teon. A tighter unit than ever before, Heston Drop embarked on the journey all young bands must take, paying their dues in pubs and clubs all around Australia. Through this, their sound and style began to evolve.

The studio beckoned and the band kicked off recording three songs, 'Shining Light', 'Calling' and 'One Way Street'. These songs were entered into the APRA Professional Development Awards, which saw them make the finals in Sydney. Industry buzz started to grow louder and it seemed only a matter of time until the band would make another leap forward.

In January 2012, a new adventure arose for the band as they entered the 'Global Battle of the Bands' Competition. Progressing through the local heats, the band found themselves at the top of the Australasian finals, held in Sydney in March. This saw them travel to England to compete in the world finals on the 9th December.

Out of the 3000 bands that had entered, Heston Drop had earned its spot and took to the stage at The Scala in London. Placing 4th in the world earnt them respect from all the bands and industry representatives.

Since returning from Europe, the band has been selected to play at 'The Depot', as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the 'Clipsal 500', supporting Australian rock legends The Angles and Ian Moss and as a main act at 'Scorcher Music Festival'.

Heston Drop has made its mark, both locally and internationally and is set in becoming a world wide act. Debut EP set to be released mid 2013.
