Convicts played at Adelaide - Autumn 2012

Convicts
Time on stage: 7.10pm
‘CONVICTS.’ were formed in the Blue Mountains early ’11 and have already played at The Annandale Hotel, Sydney. The organisers of the event said that, “Convicts. were a stand out act on the day”. They’ve packed two of the most lifeless pubs in Lithgow and were asked back to both venues due to their dedicated fans. Needless to say they’re steadily making a name for themselves and have a strong following being built in the Blue Mountains as well as the surrounding areas. This was made obvious when Convicts. managed to bring 30 fans from Lithgow down to Sydney for a meagre 45 minute set-list.
Having gigged around Lithgow for 2 years prior to forming this new act, Sam Bucca (frontman: vocals, guitars) has already made some tunes fairly well known in the area, most of all; ‘Here We Go’ (The ANZAC song). SB says that “This line-up is vastly superior to that of Sam Bucca & The beers. This is one fully functioning act, as apposed to an artist with a back-up band playing bored behind him.”
Convicts. are focusing on making a strong fan base and sticking to selling their EP/shirts/and other merchandise on the road. This band has an eclectic blend due to Sam Bucca’s unique brooding folk style songs with a gritty yelling tone and a hard backline of a talent. Rhythm section’s, Lez Burroughs', is a fantastic musician and sit's at the throne producing beats like those of JBT or The Drones and coupled with Tomslash Hine’s metal inspired bass playing, they really keep a beat thumping along. While Jono Smilie playing lead guitar is a sight to behold it's more of a violin sound at times with this maestro. These soft but lyrically brilliant songs are transformed into a rock sound with a booming vocal line running amuck amongst them.
Convicts Performed for Scorcherfest in Kin Kin last year with only two members able to attend - This "half-cut" tour was a great experience with the unofficial 5th member, 'the convict' himself, pezz rocked out a mean Spoon percussive line and nearly drank Kin Kin out of VB!
Be there, Drink beer, be proud of one part of our Australian heritage - without being a homophobic, redneck, sexist, raceist, asshole - BE A CONVICT!
