DIRT
Based on the North West Coast of Tasmania, DIRT is lead by the two Cooper brothers, Dan (Vocals and Guitar) and Andy (percussion) and run by their innate telepathic link and prolific creativity. Oldest of the two brothers, Andy had had considerable experience playing in several bands in the Bendigo, Victoria region with several of the pairs nephews. the most famous and successful being "Instir". Meanwhile his lil' bro Dan, had also been busy, forming and playing with his own bands. The two were first paired in "Toxic Angel" and when that band broke up they formed DIRT, aiming for a tougher, heavier and altogether meaner sound. After numerous line up changes, the band finallly settled on J Flowers as their bass player. The band define their sound as 70's hard rock energised with 70's punk sensibilitys and energy, or simply as a punk band with occasional metal overtones. Others call them grunge or metal, but the brothers dont tolerate that terminology. "thats a real pigeonholeing comment and really outdated terminology. we have so much more to offer than that. If you have to tar us with that brush, call us New-wave grunge or NuGrunge" they explain. The band as they amaze audiences with their energetic, aggressive and chaotic punk inspired shows. the band is a worthy force to reckon with, blowing the minds of patrons and headliners alike and breathing new life into a desolate music scene seemingly full of soft cock rock and posers alike.
